Scholarships
The following schools offer scholarships to winners and runners up of the Award for Aspirations in Computing. Please contact each school directly for specific details.
If your school would like to offer scholarships to recipients of the Award for Aspirations in Computing, please read this document, and then contact us at aspirations@ncwit.org.

Winners of the 2011-2012 Arizona Affiliate of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing will be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship for 2012-2013 if they enroll at Arizona State University and select a major in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years if the winner remains enrolled in an Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering major and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

The School of Information Systems and Management at the Heinz College offers a minimum $18,000 ($6,000 per semester) scholarship to winners and runners up of the Award for Aspirations in Computing who enroll in the Master of Information Systems Management program or the MS in Information Security Policy and Management program. Winners and runners up of the Award for Aspirations in Computing should indicate their status within their application for admission (awards are made at the time of admission).
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must enroll at Heinz College as a full-time student in the fall of 2013 or 2014 and must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA overall. The scholarship is renewable for the normal length of the degree program.

Winners of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship from Carroll College if the winners is accepted to the college and majors in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.

Winners of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship from Colorado School of Mines if the winner is accepted to the University and majors in Computer Science.

Columbus State University is awarding up to five "CSU Aspirations in Computing" Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 ($1,250 per year) to winners of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing National Award competition and winners of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing Georgia Affiliate Award competition. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach campus, is offering $10,000 scholarships to NCWIT Aspirations Award winners from the North Florida region who matriculate to one of the undergraduate programs in computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering.

Two $500 scholarships and iPads to Aspirations Award winners that enroll and study Computer Science at Fisk University. In order to be eligible, the Award winner must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Junior or Senior in high school with a GPA of 3.0 of higher,
- Complete an admission application packet and enroll at Fisk University for Fall 2012.
One $1,000 scholarship for Indiana Aspiration Award winners that enroll at Harrison College and study computing.
Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis
$1,000 for Indiana Aspiration Award winners that enroll at IUPUI and declare Informatics as their major. This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years total with a GPA of at least 3.5.

$500 for Indiana Aspiration Award winners that enroll at IUB and declare Computer Science or Informatics as their major. In addition, direct admits into our program will receive an additional $500 per year for four years of study, plus a $1,000 scholarship to support an approved international experience.

The College of Engineering at Michigan State University will offer two scholarships of $1,000 each to Aspirations Award winners successfully enrolled in MSU and majoring in Computer Science.

Muskingum University provided a $500 scholarship to each winner of the Ohio Affiliate.
North Carolina State University

NC State University will offer one $1,000 scholarship to an Aspirations Award Recipient who pursues a degree in computer science. The award is renewable for up to 3 years, assuming a minimum 3.0 GPA and acceptable progress towards graduation.
Purdue University offers a $500 scholarship for Aspirations Award winners that choose to enroll in CS or CIT majors.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

$1,000 for Aspirations Award winners that enroll at Rose-Hulman in 2011. In addition, qualified students that apply for and receive an Anita Borg scholarship will receive a matching scholarship.

Rutgers University is offering a "Rutgers Aspirations in Computing" Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to all the winners of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing National Award 2011 and/or 2012 competition, and all of the winners of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing New York Tri-State Area Affiliate and Philadelphia Affiliate Awards for the 2010-2011 and/or 2011-2012 competition.
The scholarship is being given by the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Computer Science. It can be used for students who enroll in Rutgers SAS starting in Fall 2011, Spring 2012, or Fall 2012. They must be accepted through the normal Rutgers admissions procedure and must contact aspirations@cs.rutgers.edu before the start of their first semester. They are required to take at least one class offered by the Department of Computer Science in their first semester at Rutgers.

Santa Clara University will offer $6,000 for National or San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate Award Winners who apply and are accepted to any major within the School of Engineering.
Seattle Central Community College

Seattle Central Community College (SCCC) is pleased to announce a $1,000 scholarship for Washington State Affiliate NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Winners who enroll at SCCC and are seeking a career in Informational Technology. One scholarship will be available each year via a competitive application process for any Washington State Affiliate winners who apply.

Tennessee Tech University offers two $10,000 scholarships ($2,500 per year for four years) to recipients of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing for the state of Tennessee. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria: Be a winner or runner-up of the Aspirations Award; be a Tennessee resident; qualify for admission to Tennessee Tech University; and declare a major in Computer Science. The scholarship recipient must maintain continuous full-time enrollment and a 2.5 cumulative GPA each semester. The winner or runner-up of the Aspirations Award does not have to be a high school senior - the scholarship will be available when the recipient will be a beginning first-year college student.
Tennessee Tech University also offers a one time $500 Mary Patterson Aspiration Scholarship to an eligible recipient of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria:Be a winner or runner-up of any NCWIT national or affiliate Aspirations Award; qualify for admission to Tennessee Tech University; complete a scholarship application (http://www.tntech.edu/scholarships/home/); and declare a major in Computer Science at Tennessee Tech.
University of California - Irvine

As a recipient of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing, the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of California - Irvine is offering a $1,000 scholarship to girls who are admitted to UCIrvine, enroll by Fall 2014, and declare a major offered by the Bren School of ICS (including Business Information Management, Computer Game Science, Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Informatics, Software Engineering). This scholarship is open to both national and any regional Aspirations Award winners.
University of California - Santa Barbara

As a recipient of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing, the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara is offering a $1,000 scholarship if you are admitted and choose to major in Computer Science at UC Santa Barbara.
University of California Santa Cruz

UCSC will offer an Amy Beth Snader Scholarship to one Bay Area Affiliate winner. The scholarship is $4,000 per year, renewable, and need based. The student must select a major in the Baskin School of Engineering.
University of Central Arkansas

Aspirations Award winners and runners-up that enroll in the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in the Computer Science program will be offered a $1,500 scholarship.
University of Colorado, Boulder

NCWIT Award finalists admitted to CU-Boulder's College of Engineering and Applied Science will be given special consideration for renewable BOLD participation scholarships, worth up to $4,000 per year.
University of Massachusetts - Amherst

UMass Amherst will offer five $5,000 ($1,250 per year) scholarships to Aspirations in Computing award winners from the Massachusetts Affiliate that will study computer science. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 each semester.
University of Massachusetts - Boston

University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is pleased to offer a $10,000 scholarship to two winners of the 2012-2013 Massachusetts Aspirations in Computing Affiliate Award. Each scholarship recipient must meet the university's admissions standards and attend UMass Dartmouth as a full-time student for four consecutive years. The scholarship will be paid in four annual installments of $2,500, provided that the student maintains a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 and remains a student in good standing. This scholarship will be in addition to other merit- and need-based aid that may be awarded.
University of Massachusetts - Lowell

The University of Massachusetts Lowell is pleased to announce that it will offer $20,000 scholarships to each of two winners of the 2012 Massachusetts Aspirations in Computing Affiliate Award. Each scholarship recipient must meet the university's admissions standards and attend UMass Lowell as a full-time student for four years. The scholarship will be paid in four annual installments of $5,000, provided that the student maintains a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 and remains a student in good standing. This scholarship will be in addition to other merit- and need-based aid that may be awarded.
University of Missouri - Kansas City

Winners of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship from the School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Missouri – Kansas City if the winner is accepted to the University and majors in Computer Science or Information Technology. The University of Montana Western will offer a $500 scholarship to any NCWIT Aspirations in Computing winner who pursues a degree in Business Administration with an option in Web & Digital Media.

The University of North Texas will offer $1,000 scholarships for up to two Aspirations Award winners or runners-up who enroll in a degree program offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Two $500 scholarships are available for Indiana Aspiration Award winners that enroll at Notre Dame and study Computer Science.

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce it will offer up to $5,000 to any winner of the 2012-2013 NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must enroll at The University of Pittsburgh in the fall of 2013 or 2014 and declare a CS major within a year of enrolling at Pitt. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and in the major. The scholarship may be renewable for up to 3 additional years.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

The University of Wisconsin-Madison will offer $1,000 scholarships to the winners of the Wisconsin Affiliate for Aspirations in Computing.

NCWIT Aspirations Award recipients are eligible for $1,000 scholarships from Utah State University Computer Science Department if the recipients are accepted into the university and major in Computer Science. In any year, the scholarships are limited to the first five award recipients who meet the qualifications.

Up to $8,000 per year, renewable each year based on satisfactory academic performance, (maintaining a 3.0 GPA). The amount is determined by the demonstrated financial need for the family based on information provided on the FAFSA form.
Each scholarship recipient must participate in the one-credit professional development seminar CSC 1990: Enrichment Seminar in Computing, which meets once each week for 90 minutes. The seminar participants look forward to meeting with respected computer professionals for mentoring experience, practicing giving presentations on research projects, visiting local companies to learn about professional opportunities in computing, or gaining research experience in faculty-supervised funded projects.

Recipients of the NCWIT National or Virginia/DC Affiliate Award for Aspirations in Computing will receive a $1,000 scholarship if they choose to major in Computer Science at Virginia Tech.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must enroll at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2012 or 2013 and declare a CS major within a year of enrolling at VT. This scholarship will be available for students in their sophomore year and is renewable for up to three years.

Westminster College of Salt Lake City will offer one $12,000 ($3,000 per year) scholarship to a winner or runner-up of the NCWIT National or Affiliate Award for Aspirations in Computing. This scholarship will be in addition to other merit- and need-based aid that may be awarded (not to exceed the total of tuition and fees). Students must remain in good academic standing and complete a Computer Science course by the end of their first year at Westminster. Winners and runners-up of the Award for Aspirations in Computing should indicate their status within their application for admission.
